You do not need to be African-American to live in the African-American Theme House, and the house has a very diverse population.  The house supports the theme by fostering a supportive community for all people and by hosting meetings and events in support of African-American student groups.  Members of the house are expected to contribute a few hours every semester involving themselves in the African-American community.

House members are very active with the campus and community. Academic achievement is high, and the atmosphere is vibrant. Those considering the AATH should expect lively dialogue around relevant issues pertaining to the African-American community.
